Travel to New Orleans
Unique in its Cajun and Creole culture and cuisine, world-famous for its jazz music and Mardi Gras celebrations, and beloved for its relaxed vibe and laissez-faire attitude, there is no city in the United States quite like New Orleans. On the wild side are the bars of Bourbon Street with their fun-loving spirit and counter to that are the gracious mansions and white-glove restaurants of the Garden District. Music aficionados, gourmands, party-goers, and history buffs will all enjoy a vacation to New Orleans. Sun Country flies into the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, located 14 miles west of the French Quarter.
WHY GO TO NEW ORLEANS
Really the question should be “why not”?! Some love the city for its food — beignets served through clouds of powdered sugar, spicy jambalaya made with andouille sausage, gumbo with a rich bacon fat roux as its base, po-boys overstuffed with roast beef or fried shrimp, oysters Rockefeller in the city where they originated… the list goes on and on. Other visitors go for the music: swingin’ jazz, rockin’ blues, authentic Zydeco, Cajun dancing, world-class music festivals, even opera and classical. If New Orleans doesn’t have it, it hasn’t been invented yet. And all that fun can be enjoyed while sitting back with a locally brewed beer; sipping a Sazerac (which originated in New Orleans); or nursing a Milk Punch the morning after. But NOLA or The Big Easy, as the city is often referred to, is so much more than just a great party. Stroll through the Garden District and the Audubon Park for pristine beauty, learn and reflect at the magnificent National WWII Museum, browse the boutiques along Magazine Street, or discover the amazing reptiles and birds that call the swamps and bayous of Louisiana home.
