Travel to San Antonio
Combining world heritage sites and a rich culture, along with modern-day entertainment and a fiesta spirit bursting fun, food, and festivities, a vacation to San Antonio is a multi-faceted treasure.
WHY GO TO SAN ANTONIO
San Antonio packs more to see and do in its compact city center than just about anywhere else. There are world-famous historical landmarks, fun-packed family attractions, and best of all, the River Walk — a winding river lined by walkways, gardens, shops, restaurants, and bars.
WHAT TO DO
The Alamo
Monumental in Texas history, this former mission was founded in 1718 and served as an inspiration for those fighting in the Texas Revolution, including David Crockett. The façade is an iconic symbol of both San Antonio and Texas. In addition to the Alamo, the largest concentration of Spanish colonial missions in North America can be found in and around San Antonio.
River Walk
Truly unique to San Antonio is the 15-mile River Walk. Take a few steps down below street level and enter an entirely different world of meandering waterway and pathways, riverside bars and restaurants. You can shop and stroll both sides of the River Walk or board a river barge for a leisurely tour.
Attractions
Families with children of any age will find much to love in San Antonio. For the wee ones, there’s the San Antonio Zoo or SeaWorld & Aquatica San Antonio; inquiring minds will enjoy The DoSeum; teens will thrill at Six Flags Fiesta Texas and Splashtown; and those with their heads in the clouds will enjoy the views from the 750-foot-tall Tower of the Americas.
Hill Country
Just 90 minutes from San Antonio lies the rugged hills and charming towns of the Hill Country. There’s fabulous hiking, great barbeque, antique shops and art galleries, and so much more.
