Beaches

From wide expanses of sandy beaches, rocky cliffs, reefs, tide pools, and everything in between, no two beaches in San Diego are alike. Visitors can find spots that are perfect for families or dogs, those coveted by some of the world’s best surfers, the perfect place to spot sea creatures, or the ideal place to just sit and soak up the sun — which is easy to do in a destination with year-round sunshine.

Craft Beer

"San Diegan’s” take their beer seriously, and with more than 90 breweries to choose from, who can blame them? From microbrews with big reputations like Stone, AleSmith, and Ballast Point, to the smallest of the small, there are enough choices to make it a true libation vacation.

Outdoor Recreation

Oceans, mountains, desert, you name it! There is an outdoor activity for everyone. If you are a fan of the water, choose from sport fishing, sailing, jet-skiing, scuba diving, surfing, or kayaking. On land, explorers can enjoy gorgeous desert hikes or treks on mountain trails.

Shopping

Outdoor shopping centers are a staple here, and whether you’re looking for luxury goods, a family outing, or trip souvenirs, they’ve got you covered. Popular spots include The Forum Carlsbad, Del Mar Highlands Town Center, Flower Hill Promenade, and more. For high-end and unique boutiques, head to La Jolla.

Parks

San Diego boasts more biodiversity than any other county in the nation with five different habitats including tidal, marsh, desert, mountains, and canyons. Balboa Park alone features up to 16 unique gardens ranging from Japanese plants, to roses, to rare flowers such as orchids, spread out over 1,200 lush acres of land just minutes from downtown.

Museums

On the off chance it rains, or if you’re feeling like you need a break from the sun, there are more than 90 museums to be enjoyed throughout San Diego catering to a diverse range of interests including fine arts, science, culture, history, and children’s themes.

Dining

When it comes to vacations, what you eat can be a big factor and San Diego’s culinary community understands this well. Check out India Street in the Little Italy neighborhood for mouth-watering Italian cuisine, or visit East Village for a more urban, foody experience. Be sure not to miss Convoy Street in the Clairemont neighborhood if you’re a fan of Asian flavors.

Nightlife

It’s no secret that the heart of San Diego nightlife can be found in the Gaslamp Quarter. Spanning more than 16 city blocks, the multitude of fashionable nightclubs, rooftop bars, and live entertainment offer plenty of opportunities to get in on the action.
