Things to Do in Puerto Vallarta
Malecon
The miles-long Malecon is the treasure of this beachfront city. Recently expanded and widened, one can walk for miles with Banderas Bay and bronze sculptures on one side and restaurants, bars, shops, and more on the other. Towards the south end of the Malecon is Isla Cuale and its craft market, shaded from the sun and kept cool by the surrounding waters of the Rio Cuale.
Art Walk
Every Wednesday from October to May, the art galleries of Puerto Vallarta — concentrated in the Romantic Zone — keep their doors open later than usual for shopping, strolling, and wine sipping.
Outdoor Adventure
Whether you love the water or land based adventures, there’s never a shortage of things to do in Riviera Nayarit. Choose from ATV excursions, ziplining tours, sea turtle releases, deep-sea fishing, surfing, whale watching, swimming with dolphins, or getting kissed by a sea lion.
Nightlife
The highest concentration of bars and clubs is along the Malecon in central Puerto Vallarta. North of the city, in Nayarit, nightlife is centered within the hotels.
Shopping
Puerto Vallarta offers a uniquely diverse selection of shopping options. For clothing, many of the large resorts in the Riviera Nayarit area have onsite boutiques, as well as shops in the Hotel Zone and Romantic Zone. For unique art and jewelry, the galleries of the Romantic Zone are exceptional. And for local crafts and souvenirs, the market stalls on Isla Cuale offer a concentrated area to find the perfect gift to bring home.
Dining
